Bacolod Mayor Monico Puentevella said he will reshuffle employees by January 2014 to improve their efficiency in serving the public.
Puentevella said he has directed concerned agencies of government to start updating the qualifications of the department heads and employees appointed by the previous administration.
He said employees who are not fit for their present positions should prepare themselves for the reshuffling.
"I must clean the house by January for us to improve our efficiency in serving the people,” Puentevella said, adding that his priorities next year include traffic, waste management, and peace and order.
Puentevella said he will join the barangay captains on a Lakbay Aral or educational trip next year either to Marikina or Las Piñas to observe their waste management program. “We need to be more serious in our waste management for the sanitary landfill in Felisa to be fully utilized by next year,” he said.
Meanwhile, Puentevella said he considers his being Mayor to be self-fulfilling because he is able to make people, especially the employees happy with their P30,000 Performance Enhancement Incentive or Christmas bonus, which is the biggest ever they have received.
He said he is thankful to the Sangguniang Panlungsod members for supporting his administration. “If the next budget will be stable, everyone will enjoy a piece of charity," he said.
He said he has also prepared a surprise for the teachers, job order employees, police, traffic enforcers, streetcleaners, among others.
He said the teachers will be happy with his surprise which he will announce to them during the flag-raising rites.
For those who are not qualified to receive Christmas bonuses, they have set aside funds for their gift certificates which they can buy from SM, Robinsons and Lopues, Puentevella said.
