Drug suspect shot dead,
companion hurt: police
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

A suspected drug personality was killed and his companion critically injured after they were shot by two unidentified men on board a motorcycle at around 4:50 p.m. yesterday at the Bagacay Road in the city.

Supt. James Goforth, Dumaguete police chief, identified the fatality as Bret Enumeraballon, “alias Tisoy”, 21, of Purok Mutia in Barangay Calindagan, Dumaguete, who died of multiple gunshot wounds at the emergency room of the Holy Child Hospital.

His companion, Ryan Dave Amores of Purok Dapdap in Brgy. Bagacay, also of the city, is in critical condition at the same hospital, police reports said.

Initial investigation showed that Amores was driving a motorcycle with Enumeraballon as back-rider, and passing near the Hypermart shopping complex, when two men, also on board a motorcycle, rode up to them and opened fire.

Witnesses said they heard what sounded like bursts of gunfire, and the police believe a semi-automatic pistol was used in the shooting.

Goforth said police and Scene of the Crime Operatives, who were still processing the crime scene as of press time, have already found eight empty shells of a still undetermined caliber of firearm.

He said they are looking at various angles as motive for the shooting, among them the possibility that the crime was related to the illegal drugs trade.*JFP
