With six players scoring in double figures, Huminova Tigers routed AACI Trading, 129-109, in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 2nd Conference Inter-Company Basketball Tournament at Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym in Bacolod City, Friday night.
Also registering a key victory was Organic Solutions against Royal Star Trading, 67-62.
After trailing 23-28 in the first quarter, the Tigers bounced back in the second canto and displayed their offensive firepower where they scored at least 32 points in the next three quarters to improve their quarterfinals chances at 3-4 (win-loss) and move ahead of Trading, who finished the elimination round at 3-5.
Carlo Chu and Raul Javelosa scored 10 points each, and Badong Eufre added eight points to put the Tigers on top at the half, 59-51. Danny Boy Uy scored eight points for AACI Trading.
Charlton Ong and Javelosa also made 10 points in the quarter with Brian Coo taking care of the offensive putbacks for eight quarter points as the Tigers extended the lead at the end of the third quarter, 97-76.
AACI Trading finally delivered a 30-point quarter when Michael Ang knocked down three triples and Mark Coo added 11 points, but it was enough to overhaul the double digit lead.
Brian Coo finished with 29 points, Chu added 25, Javelosa scored 20, Charlton Ong hit 19, Badong Eufre picked up 16 , Joel Masadia made 12, and RB Chua with 8 points.
Danny Boy paced Trading with 28 points, Mark Coo shot 25, Michael Ang and Mark Lo fired 21 points each and Chibon Uy scored 14 points.
Organic Solutions finished their elimination round at 3-5 in Class B with a crucial victory as they stalled Royal Star for a quarterfinals seat. A quadruple tie is still possible for No. 2 depending on the last Class B playdate results.
Organic took the half, 35-23, as Monroe Chua scored 10 points and and Jun Jun Ponce making two triples even as Nico Yap scored 10 points for Royal .
Ponce knocked down two more treys and Tide Rogacion scored four points to give Organic a 53-39 cushion going to the fourth quarter.
Royal outscored Organic in the final canto with Nico Yap, Jolly Castillo and Biboy Yap combining for 20 points, but Organic was able to hold on to the lead as Monroe Chua scored seven points for Organic.
Chua topscored with 19 points, Ponce registered 14, and Ton Ton Chua with 9 points.
