A jobless man from Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, was fatally stabbed over a misunderstanding in Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
The victim Alfie Ojeda, 25, succumbed to 10 stab wounds on his chest and eight on his back, case investigator, Police Officer 2 Art Zureta of Bacolod Station 8, said yesterday.
The suspect, identified as Manuelito Astrologo of Purok Kabulakan 1 in Brgy. Singcang-Airport, where Ojeda is temporarily staying, surrendered to the police right after the incident, Zureta said.
He said witnesses told the police that Ojeda, who was allegedly under the influence of liquor, challenged Astrologo to a fight, prompting the suspect to come out of his house and stab the victim repeatedly, causing his immediate death.
Investigation showed that, in July last year, Astrologo filed a complaint against Ojeda, who, he said, hit his head with a hard object during their brawl.
Murder charges are being readied against Astrologo, who is now detained at the Police Station 8 lockup cell.*APN
