Bacolod taxi operators reminded
about meter recalibration, resealing

The resealing and calibration of taxi meters for Bacolod operators will end tomorrow and will not be extended, Romulo Bernardes, regional director of the Land Transportation Regulatory and Franchising Board, said yesterday.

Bernardes who was in Bacolod City for the public hearing on the petition on the increase of fare rates for public utility vans plying the Bacolod-Silay airport route and vice versa, said, operators will be fined P500 monthly if they cannot calibrate their meters until tomorrow.

“Resealing has to be done because there are lots of taxi operators or drivers who manipulate their taxi meters and we also do this to secure the rights of the passengers,” Bernardes said.

North terminal
construction hit

A former councilor of Bacolod is claiming that the construction of the Northbound terminal in Bacolod City is ridden with violations and suggesting that the city operate it after rescinding the contract with its operator.

At the clarification of Wilson Gambos Jr. however, clarified that he is not against the construction of the Northbound terminal being the author of the Ordinance creating it.

Councilor Dindo Ramos, chairman of the Sangguniang Committee on Transportation and Communications, however, said Gamboa is just using the issue to advance his candidacy.
