gold in PRISAA

Seventeen-year-old Maika De Oro transitioned smoothly from a Palarong Pambansa golden girl to a collegiate queen of throwing events as she a new record in women’s discus throw of the 2013 National PRISAA at Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center in Lingayen, Pangasinan, yesterday.

UNO-R prevails over Toyota in
13th Tan Kek Pin basketball

University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Team B debuted with a 74-63 victory over Toyota Bacolod, while University of St. La Salle President’s Gym pulled away in the payoff quarter against Willtrade-Sagay to claim its third straight win in the latest schedule of the 13th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Basketball Cup at Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

CSA-B Choi Sportswear defeated Allure DM/Bobcat, 84-80, The Bobcats bounced back by trouncing New Negros Coliseum, 83-74, and New Negros Coliseum yielded to Willtrade, 96-82.

Against USLS, Willtrade /Sagay Central failed to hold on to a 60-55 lead going to the fourth quarter, allowing the La Sallians to pounce on the missed shots and turnover by Willtrade to score on breakaway layups of Mark De la Cruz and Kevin Villafranca.

BUS G resets tourney

The Basketball Unified Sports Group announced the rescheduling of its 2nd Invitational Tournament that was previously set later this month, a press release from the group.

Tournament organizers and BUS G adviser Bing Soyao said that the Feb. 16 meeting of team representative was also postponed.

Soyao said the new schedule of the tournament will give the six participating teams in the 40-up category and the four squads in the 50-Up division enough time to finalize their respective lineup.
