The operators and members of the Bacolod-Silay Airport United Transport Operators Inc. are asking the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to fast track the review and evaluation of their petition for fare increase from P52 to P150, its president Tim Limsiaco, said yesterday.
Limsiaco said that the petition was filed to legalize the P150 fare of public utility vans plying Bacolod-Silay airport and vice versa.
The LTFRB approved fare is at P52, however, as the airport started its operation in 2008, PUVs has been collecting P150 as the basic fee from the airport to Bacolod and vice versa, she said.
“If we follow the approved fare matrix of LTRFB, operators will have income deficits,” Limsiaco said.
She also said they have not received any complaints from passengers since 2008, adding that they are giving them quality service.
Limsiaco said they also take their passengers straight to their homes if they request for it without additional charges. She added, however, that they do ask for baggage fees.
Earlier, a public hearing was conducted at the Negros Museum in Bacolod City that was presided by LTFRB-6 regional director Romulo Bernardes.
Bernardes said they have not received any direct opposition from the stakeholders who attended the hearing.
However, he said, the LTFRB-6 cannot decide on the finality of the petition because members of the board of its central office in Manila will act on it. *LTG
