Aquino to inaugurate
IT Park in Dumaguete

President Benigno Aquino III will lead the inauguration of an information technology park and attend the political rally of the Liberal Party in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental today.

The President is expected to fly in at around 11 a.m. and will proceed to the Link Sy IT Park in Barangay Bantayan, Dumaguete, for its blessing and inauguration. On September 2011, Aquino had attended the IT Park groundbreaking, and said then that more people from Dumaguete and from around the region will have access to decent employment.

“More Negrenses will be able to receive a decent salary without having to be so far from their families; without leaving behind the comfort and beauty of their home country, or even their home province; and without being too far to enjoy a peaceful stroll along Dumaguete’s breathtaking boulevard at the end of their work days,” Aquino had said.

Bets paying NPA
fees to be charged

The Philippine National Police yesterday warned candidates who may pay “permit to campaign fees” to the New People’s Army that it is punishable under the Revised Penal Code.

PNP chief Alan Purisima, in a statement, said, “If proven that the ‘fee’ was made as part of a conspiracy to overthrow the government, the ‘donor’ may be held liable as co-conspirator in the crime of rebellion”.

“Incumbent government officials campaigning for re-election remain to be government officials, thus, their culpability in this extortion scheme of the NPA thru so-called ‘campaign fees’ will be further aggravated by a violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Government Officials,” he added.

Cops probing death
of German national

Dumaguete policemen are still establishing the motive for the killing of a German national inside his house in Purok Mapahiyumon, Barangay Cantil-e, Dumaguete City, on Feb. 14.

Chief Insp. Josephine Llena of the PNP Scene of the Crime Operatives Unit said the body of Frank Bolkhard, 50, was brought to the Garden of Saints Funerals Homes in Brgy. Camanjac, Dumaguete, where an autopsy has been conducted.

The victim was found by two house helpers bathed in blood and sprawled on the floor near the stairway. Initial police investigation showed that Bolkhard sustained a gaping neck wound, lacerated wound on his left wrist and multiple stab wounds on the chest and abdomen.
