2013 WVRAA
Negros’ bid for athletics crown
starts today at Villareal Stadium

The battle for supremacy in athletics between Negros Occidental and Iloilo starts today as competition in the 2013 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet kicks off at the Villareal Stadium in Roxas City, Capiz.

At the forefront of Negros’ campaign in long jump are Mary Anthony Diesto and Erica Kee, both from Bacolod Tay Tung High School, who won the gold and silver medals, respectively, during the Provincial Meet at the Panaad Park and Sports Stadium in December.

Diesto is the reigning WVRAA champion in secondary girls’ long jump after she captured the gold last year at the Panaad when Negros hosted the regional meet.

Rams turn back Willtrade,
Stingers remain unbeaten

Davies Phils./University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Team A survived Willtrade Sagay Central, 72-68, while University of St. La Salle President’s Gym kept turned back UNO-R Team B, 91-70, to keep its record unblemished in the Class A contest of the 13th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Basketball Cup at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym, Sunday.

New Negros Coliseum defaulted its match handing Toyota Motors its 1st victory.

Willtrade almost pulled out a come-from-behind victory against UNO-R A as they overcame a 54-45 thir quarter deficit and caught up with Davies at 57-all on an Arnold Gono layup halfway in the fourth quarter.
