American charged
for assault on cop

Multiple charges for direct assault upon an agent or person in authority, alarm and scandal, slander by deeds and resisting arrest were filed yesterday against an American for berating and punching a policeman at Police Station 3 in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City, Sunday.

The charges against Allen Mark Earnest, 57, of Kentucky, U.S.A. were filed before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office by Senior Police Officer 1 Paul Peduhan, Station 3 chief, Senior Insp. Dianne Aquitania, said.

Peduhan said he and his men arrested Earnest at his rented apartment at Eroreco Subdivision in Brgy. Mandalagan past 10 p.m. on the complaints of his live-in partner, whose name the police withheld, after the American battered her.

Earnest, who was observed to be under the influence of liquor, was already at the police station when he berated the cops who were trying to detain him.

He also threw punches at Jay-Ar Padilla, the caretaker of his rented apartment, but instead, hit Peduhan on the left eye and tried to escape.

The American, who was sober yesterday, apologized, but, Aquitania said it was too late.*APN
