Local NPC to
support LP, UNA bets

Rep. George Arnaiz (Neg. Or., 2nd District) yesterday said he and his affiliate political candidates in the province will support several senatorial candidates from the coalition lineups of the Liberal Party and the United Nationalist Alliance for the May 13 elections.

Arnaiz (Nationalist People’s Coalition) said he will discuss whom to support for senator with gubernatorial candidate Margarito Teves, 3rd District Rep. Henry Pryde Teves (Lakas-CMD), the mayors and other political candidates in their alliance ticket.

“There are candidates in the Liberal Party-led coalition that we have to support”, he said, citing Loren Legarda, Jack Enrile, former NPC president Ernesto Maceda, and Francis Escudero. From the UNA, those to be considered are Jose Victor Ejercito and Gregorio Honasan, Arnaiz said.

He said it is not unusual for them to pick up and support individual and common candidates for higher elective positions, particularly in the Senate.

Arnaiz, who is seeking re-election, is supporting the gubernatorial bid of Gary Teves, whose running mate is Vice Gov. Apolinario Arnaiz Jr., the younger brother of the solon.

Also in his lineup are Rep. Teves, former 1st district Rep. Jerome Paras, and his younger brother, Jacinto Paras, for mayor of Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.*PNA
