CLMMRH preparest for
bloodletting Sun.

Personnel of the Department of Surgery of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City will hold a bloodletting campaign tomorrow at the Reodica Hall of the hospital, and are targeting a collection of 100 units of blood.

Dr. These Larae Morata said yesterday that CLMMRH receives an increasing number of trauma cases and other emergency operative procedures that require immediate blood transfusion.

Morata also said that the deficiency and unavailability of blood cause delays in these procedures, and is a consistent problem of the department that has caused increased cases of morbidity, especially in trauma cases.

Those who qualify for blood donation are healthy individuals aged 17 to 60 and weigh at least 50kg; must not have medical illnesses like asthma, hypertension, cancer, and diabetes; no history of use of prohibited drugs, and must not take in any medication or alcohol 24 hours before giving blood, she said.

When donors need emergent blood transfusion, the hospital, in turn, will prioritize and provide them with the corresponding number of blood units they have contributed, she also said.

The bloodletting activity is in cooperation with the Department of Pathology and Laboratory of CLMMRH. It is supported by doctors Julius Drilon, chief of hospital; Julian Salvador Vinco, chair of the Department of Surgery; and chief resident Eiler Tarroja.*LTG
