Moises Padilla will face Mabini Elementary School, while University of St. La Salle-Integrated School will clash against St. Scholastica’s Academy in the semifinals of the Negros First Under 13 Football Tournament at the Panaad pitch this Sunday.
The top four teams advanced to the semifinals after prevailing over their separate rivals in the quarterfinals over the weekend.
Moises Padilla beat St. John’s Institute, 3-1, on two goals from Jim Mendoza and one from Simon Peter Rodriguez, all in the first half.
John Michael Baloyo scored for SJI in the 49th minute to prevent shutout.
Earlier in the first match, Mabini ES dealth Don Bosco Technical Institute a 5-1 whipping as Johnsent Catoto and Rolevan Valderrama both scored two goals while Joseph Ciocon added another, all in the first half.
Catoto opened the scoring for Mabini five minutes into the game and Daniel Demigillio of DBTI equalized in the 15th minute setting the mood for a tough match between the two teams.
Everything changed towards the end of the first half as Mabini scored three successive goals, two from Valderrama (38th and 39th) and another one from Catoto (40th) to overwhelm DBTI.
In Field 2, St. Scholastica’s Academy blanked Bata ES I, 2-0, on goals from Kyle Velez and Tom Alcala to secure a seat in the semifinals.
Joining them in the top four is USLS-IS who edged Andres Bonifacion Elementary School 1-0 courtesy of the goal from Chyle Miraflores in the 40th minute.
The school-based tournament, organized by the Dynamic Football Club headed by Ricky Yanson, aims to develop the talent of young football players in the province.
The tournament is supervised by the committee is headed by Andrew Infante with Dennis Estaniel, Ronald Treyes, Roberto Garde, and Augustine Rey Rivas as members.*NAB
