LOPTTA gets `robot’ donation

The Lopue’s Table Tennis Association, home of outstanding paddlers in Negros Occidental, recently received an Oukei table tennis robot from Manila-based businessman and table tennis supporter James Sy, a press release from LOPTTA said.

Sy, also the team manager of the NCAA champion San Beda College Team, recently visited the LOPTTA Center at Lopue’s San Sebastian Annex Building and was impressed by the training facilities and the achievements of the club members.

He also cited LOPTTA, headed by Leonito “Diotay” Lopue, for its grassroots program.

The table tennis robot donated by Sy is the latest version that has a dual-head server that allows the player to choose topspin and backspin serves simultaneously, the press release said.

It has a five uilt-in programs that can provide professional players with more than 200 combinations of serves at the 18 landing points, along with a mixture of topspin, backspin, and different levels of speed, curve and spin balls.

Lopue said the robot can help in the training of their club members, especially the young players. With the donation from Sy, he said LOPTTA now has four table tennis robots at the center.*
