Education student killed

Unidentified suspects robbed and killed an Education student of the Bago City College working part-time as a tricycle driver in Valladolid town, Negros Occidental yesterday.

Joemarie Machan, Jr., 21, of Purok Mainuswagon in Brgy. Sa Guwa Banwa, Valladolid can no longer attend his graduation on March and fulfill his dreams of becoming a teacher, his uncle Jonathan Machan said.

He said his nephew left their house Sunday and plied his tricycle to take advantage of the ongoing festival in Valladolid to earn extra money for going to school on Monday.

However, Joemarie failed to come home and later his family was informed that he was found at a rice field in Purok Akasya in Brgy. Bayabas in Valladolid at about 6 a.m. yesterday lying face down, with multiple stab wounds and already dead.

Police Officer 3 Jeoffrey Garde, case investigator, said somebody saw at least five men riding the tricycle of the victim before his body was found.

Garde said that they believe robbery was the motive in the killing as his wallet and tricycle are missing.

Meanwhile, a resident of Murcia Negros Occidental was hacked dead by two armed men in front of his nephew, children and wife, over an old grudge at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police identified the victim as Isabelo Buhian of Purok Cubay in Brgy. Amayco.

Buhian, who sustained multiple hack wounds, was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

His nephew, 16, whose name the police withheld, identified one of the suspects as a certain Antonio Camoro, who is now facing homicide charges.*APN
