Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. celebrated his birthday surrounded by his family and friends at Nature’s Village Hotel in Talisay City, recently.
Political stalwarts, business leaders and civic society movers and shakers gathered once again to give their birthday wishes to the Governor, and were entertained by surprise numbers performed by people close to Marañon. Seen that day were the mayors, vice mayors and other officials of various towns and cities of the province.
Leonor Fukuda of Japan jetted in for the occasion, with some Japanese investors. Anna Balcells of Kalipay Negrense Foundation was also very visible with her extensive campaign in support of helping children under their care. Everyone enjoyed the sumptuous lunch buffet prepared by the chefs of Sonia Sarrosa of Nature’s Village, especially for the birthday of her brother.
Gov. Freddie is the better half of Dr. Marilyn Marañon. He is known to be one of the well-loved public servants of Negros. His track record reflects his kind of leadership, from being the longest serving mayor of Sagay City, to becoming congressman, and now governor of the province. He is the brother of the late great Gov. Joseph Marañon.
The Marañons have seven accomplished children: Anna Marie, married to Todd McConchie; Aileen Salvacion, married to Dr. Armand Lontoc; Rep. Alfredo III, married to Dr. Fe Rodriguez; Agnes Victoria, married to Takayuki Iida; Ma. Carmela, married to Patrick Valderrama; Dr. Anthony Albert, married to Dr. Cathy Robillo; and Arthur Christopher, married to lawyer Charisse Hiponia.*
