A Hawaiian birthday bash
The Hawaiian-themed 82nd birthday celebration of Gloria Gensoli was an evening of elegance, music, fun, and terrific food. Truly, a night to remember.
The grand ballroom of Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City was festooned with balloons and flowered décor, and packed with her family, friends and well-wishers, all happy to be celebrating this gracious lady’s natal day. Each arriving guest was requested to have their photo-op at the entrance of the hall. Everyone came in their most glamorous Hawaiian attire, but the standout of the evening was the celebrator herself, who wowed the crowd in her “drop-dead-gorgeous” wahini costume when she made her grand entrance, escorted by nephew Alan Gensoli.
Dinner was a gastronomic feast of favorite dishes specially prepared for the occasion. This was followed by a highly-entertaining program, featuring champion ballroom dancers displaying their dancing skills to the delighted audience.
Alan gave a fine tribute to his beloved aunt, who was visibly touched by her family’s devotion and love. He lauded her activities in the various civic clubs of which she is an active member. This could be the reason why Gloria has remained young and energetic despite her years.
A surprise feature of the evening’s entertainment was the raffle where lucky guests won terrific prizes. At our table, there were three of us who won a coffeemaker each!
After the program, it was ballroom dancing all night long, and the celebrator was right there on the floor dancing the night away. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OYA!*
