Cabug lechon festival held

The annual Lechon Festival of Brgy. Cabug, Bacolod City, Sunday, again drew many people, who came both for curiosity, and for the lechon, a press release from City Hall said.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson led the spectators, who included councilors Mona Dia Jardin, Sonya Verdeflor and Em Ang, former councilor Greg Gasataya, youth leader Israel Salanga, former Central Negros Electric Cooperative president, Ed Guillem, Silver Masskara Festival director Eli Francis Tajanlangit, philanthropist Chito Lizares Jalandoni and City Administrator John Orola, the press release also said.

Leonardia said the festival is one-of-a-kind, as the lechons were paraded with costumes, masks reminiscent of the MassKara Festival, and umbrellas to protect them from the sun, the press release added.*

Sinulog de Kabankalan on

The 37 th Sinulog de Kabankalan was opened by Mayor Isidro Zayco at the city public plaza with drums and fireworks display recently, a press release from the city said.

A mass held at the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, officiated by Fr. Radny Bayog, preceded the opening program followed by the procession of the images of the Senior Sto. Niño, along with the parishioners and the Sadsad dancers of the Kabankalan Catholic College, towards the plaza.

Msgr. Tranquilino Nacional, vicar-general of the Diocese of Kabankalan, said the invocation, reflections and petitions were read by Jeffrey Tubola, Jimmy Maravilla, John Peter Millan, Reynaldo Gasataya, Elsie Sabay and Bernadette Ayala, the press release said.

Other major activities were the JCI Search for Wonder Kids of Kabankalan today; K-CAT Viva Night, featuring Ronnie Liang and Anja Aguilar, January 17; pageant and coronation night for the Sinulog Queen, GMA Kapuso Night, featuring Jaya, Moymoy Palaboy, Aldin Richards and Isabel Oli, as well as the Pepsi Night, Jan. 18;

PBA Goes to Kabankalan with the WNU Mustang; Sinulog 2013 Mardigras 2013, Jan. 19; fireworks competition, Jan. 19-20; and the grand tribal parade and competition, ABS-CBN Kapamilya Stars, and SMB Night, featuring Brownman Revival, on Jan. 20, the press release added.*
