Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo criticized those responsible for the relief of three high-ranking officials of the province without observing standard procedures, and said it was politically-motivated.
He said the reliefs of provincial director Rayford Yap of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Land Transportation Office-Dumaguete chief Roland Ramos, and Senior Supt. Edward Carranza, Negros Oriental police director, was a desperate move of his detractors, who, he claimed, are moving heaven and earth to further their political ambitions in the province.
He also said there were speculations that, if not for time constraints, DepEd-NegOr Division superintendent, Salutiano Jimenez, could also have been transferred.
The Commission on Elections has banned the transfer or movement of government officials and employees during the election period, or from January 13 to June 13, 2013.
Degamo said his political rivals have also revived old cases, like the fertilizer scam, to malign his reputation. Degamo is seeking a reelection in the May 13 elections.
He cautioned the public to be vigilant against efforts to sabotage the elections in the province.*JG
