Relief of 3 NegOr officials
politically-motivated: guv

Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo criticized those responsible for the relief of three high-ranking officials of the province without observing standard procedures, and said it was politically-motivated.

He said the reliefs of provincial director Rayford Yap of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Land Transportation Office-Dumaguete chief Roland Ramos, and Senior Supt. Edward Carranza, Negros Oriental police director, was a desperate move of his detractors, who, he claimed, are moving heaven and earth to further their political ambitions in the province.

He also said there were speculations that, if not for time constraints, DepEd-NegOr Division superintendent, Salutiano Jimenez, could also have been transferred.

Comelec to regulate
Internet poll adverts

MANILA – The Philippines is set to regulate Internet advertising in the May mid-term polls as part of an effort to rein in campaign spending, an election official said yesterday.

As part of the regulation, candidates for the upcoming elections will be limited to three days of online adverts per week, Commission on Elections spokesman James Jimenez said.

Filipinos are due to elect thousands of local officials ranging from governors to senators on May 13.
