Surprise bash

ivy

When Dr. Ver Lacson decides to throw a surprise super bash, he goes to all lengths to keep it a secret.

But, Bacolod is a small town and for people in the media, there are no secrets. That is why when he tendered a super glam dinner party recently, we all knew in advance what it was for! (Of course, I acted “surprised”).

Ver’s plushy home stood out that evening with its bright outdoor lights beckoning a warm welcome to the arriving guests. First to arrive were the Brits: Robert Harland and Hazel Stuart with yours truly. The sumptuous aroma of the tasty dishes on the buffet wafted across the room while our appetites were whetted by the excellent red wine and scrumptious pica-pica.

Soon, the living room was filled with the A-list guests: Dr. Marilyn Marañon, first lady of the province, who came with her daughter in-law, Charisse; Bacolod Mayor Bing Leonardia with lovely wife, Elsa; City Administrator John Orola with balikbayan sister Fanny Balenia and hubby, Boy, who just arrived from Chicago, USA. From Perth, Australia, came the good-looking sports ambassadors, who were visibly dazzled by the expansive and exquisite all white living room with classy objects d’art, fabulous paintings and awesome 13 giant Christmas trees! One of their members, Carl Aylett, who is a Justin Bieber look-alike, had a blast taking photos of everything he could see!

Ahhh, the food! The buffet tables around the dining area groaned with gastronomic delights which everyone enjoyed. My BFFs, Ninfa and Perla Leonardia, arrived just in time to partake of the superb feast. The yummy desserts were just too much to resist and everyone helped themselves to seconds (maybe thirds?) of the obscenely-delicious sweets.

What a lovely evening it was with terrific food, excellent company and gorgeous surroundings. Bravo, Dr. Ver!*
