Run and Save a Life 2
set Feb. 17 in Bacolod

The St. Scholastica’s Bacolod Alumnae Foundation, Inc. and the Province of Negros Occidental will again be co-presenting “Run and Save a Life 2”, a charity run/walk event on Feb. 17, starting at 4:30 a.m. at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon, a press release from the Capitol said.

The race categories include 1k, 3k, 5k and 10k courses, with the finish line also set at the Capitol Lagoon.

This year, the race organizers have included the first Kolasa 3k Batch Walkathon, an even open to all SSA-Bacolod batches, and the first Kolasa 5k Invitational Group Walk Challenge, to be participated by the Capitolville Walkers, the Sta. Clara Homeowners’ Association and the St. John’s Institute Alumni Association.

Set to join the charity event are Filipino-British model and actor Derek Ramsay and Filipino balikbayan model and WWF-Philippines national ambassador Rovilson Fernandez, the press release said.

Ramsay, a multi-sport athlete, has won accolades for the country by competing in international Ultimate Frisbee tournaments. He is a celebrity endorser of the Belo Medical Group, one of the major sponsors of the `Run and Save a Life” event.

Fernandez is most noted in competing with his “best buddy” Marc Nelson in the reality show, “The Amazing Race Asia 2”, the press release added.

Funds raised will go to the Foundation’s “Save A Life Project”, that has benefited hundreds of pediatric patients in government hospitals, including cardiac patients who were sent to Manila for open heart surgeries.

Another beneficiary is the “Give A Life Project” which has given free immunizations (MMR, Hepa-B, HIB, DTaP and Pneumo 23) to thousands of children in the different cities and towns in Negros Occidental, the press release said.

The walk/run event is the first of several projects lined up for SSBAFI’s 10th year celebration this year.

Registration fees for the event are P100 for the 1K event, P250 for the 3K race, P300 for the 5K, and P350 for the 10K.

Students, AFP, PNP, and Coast Guard personnel who will join in any category will be charged P50 registration fee upon presentation of an ID.

Registration sites are: SSBAFI Office at the 2nd floor, MC Metroplex, B.S. Aquino Drive, Bacolod City and Run Club at Robinsons Central City Walk, Bacolod City.

Cash prizes and medals will be given to the top three male and female winners of 3K, 5K and 10K categories.

Fun prizes await the top three 1K winners and the overall winner in the Kolasa 3K Batch Walkathon. A P10,000 cash prize will be given to the champion in the Kolasa 5K Invitational Group Walk Challenge, the press release said.*
