UNO-R beach volley duo to
compete in Bayawan tilt

Newly-crowned NOPSSCEA beach volleyball champion Jennifer Cosas and Jossa Sumande are heading for Bayawan City in Negros Oriental next month for the 2013 Women’s Invitational Beach Volleyball Tournament.

Set on Feb. 2 – 3 at Bayawan City Boulevard, the competition, is expected to attract outstanding volleyball talents including foreign nationals who are residing in the country.

Last year, the tournament was dominated by Singaporean coeds Faye Sai and Sihui Zenn, who beat UNO-Rians Cosas and partner Ruby Casiple in the championship.

Run and Save a Life 2
set Feb. 17 in Bacolod

The St. Scholastica’s Bacolod Alumnae Foundation, Inc. and the Province of Negros Occidental will again be co-presenting “Run and Save a Life 2”, a charity run/walk event on Feb. 17, starting at 4:30 a.m. at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon, a press release from the Capitol said.

The race categories include 1k, 3k, 5k and 10k courses, with the finish line also set at the Capitol Lagoon.

This year, the race organizers have included the first Kolasa 3k Batch Walkathon, an even open to all SSA-Bacolod batches, and the first Kolasa 5k Invitational Group Walk Challenge, to be participated by the Capitolville Walkers, the Sta. Clara Homeowners’ Association and the St. John’s Institute Alumni Association.

YBAC, Cadiz teams
remain at deadlock

The Jan. 20 double header between Your Basketball Athletic Club and Cadiz City Basketball Club ended in another deadlock as the two teams clashed during the Dinagsa Festival Celebration in Cadiz.

YBAC beat Cadiz, 95-80, in the 50 and below category, while Cadiz prevailed, 94-90, in the 50 and below division.

Heading YBAC’s 50 and below lineup are former collegiate varsity players Jomarie Bayhon, Rolly Buenaflor, Chad Paez, Marlon Caballero, Ernie Castillo, Joel Togle, Wilfred Amoy, and Oscar Aquino. Buenaflor also coaches the team.
