The atmosphere was truly festive during the grand opening last week of Bacolod’s newest restaurant, Tokyo Bubble Tea, at Robinsons Place Central Citywalk.
Sounds of drums greeted the guests while multi-colored balloons added a festive air to the entrance of the ultra-modern restaurant. Tokyo Bubble Tea is a Philippine homegrown concept founded and managed by McWilson Group of Restaurants, which introduced its first Japanese style ambiance and food to Manila in 2007. The name Bubble Tea is derived from the drinks popularized around Asia and has become a great favorite among Filipinos.
We were greeted by the attractive owners, Tilman and wife Shella Guerrero Reissfelder, who invited us to partake of their delicacies. On hand to help them welcome the guests was Shella’s mom, Bella Guerrero. Seeing how delicious everything looked on the menu, we needed no further urging. We immediately ordered our favorite Japanese food.
Around us were the other guests from the media, government officials, civic organizations, socialites, etc., who looked like they were enjoying themselves thoroughly. The drinks were the specialty of the house and we tried some from the wide variety they offered.
We could see that this new, unique place would soon be a favorite hangout for family gatherings, teenage get-togethers, light snack meals and any occasion for the adventurous Bacolod foodies who are out to try “something new”. We could hardly resist each new dish that was served to us and so we probably went home five pounds heavier that day.
Congratulations to Shella and Tilman for this impressive addition to the growing food industry of Bacolod!*
