‘Notorious thief’ arrested

A suspected notorious “pickpocket” in the area of Station 8 was charged for theft before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday, its chief, Senior Insp. Charles Gever said.

The suspect, Ryan Villarin, 21, of Purok 1 Magsungay, Brgy. Singcang-Airport in Bacolod has been involved in theft, pickpocket and salisi operations, usually victimizing passengers of the public utility jeepney, Gever said.

He said Villarin was nabbed at about 1:40 a.m. Thursday when his victim, Sarah Grace Librilla, a call center agent, asked for help from the security guard of Transcom at Araneta Street, Bacolod.

Gever said Librilla, who was about to get off the jeepney, discovered that her cellular phone was missing, and found it in possession of Villarin, who was sitting beside her.

Villarin, who said stealing was his occupation, has been nabbed for a similar offense twice, Gever said.

Meanwhile, a teacher of the Sum-ag Elementary School was found dead in his house at Purok Masinadyahon, Brgy. Pahanocoy in Bacolod at about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Rizaldy Isancha, 52, was found by his neighbor, Golem Condez, who noticed he had not gone out from his house, Gever said.

Initial investigation showed there is no foul play in the death of Isancha as he had been diagnosed with tuberculosis.

The police are trying to contact the family of the victim who are in Manila before an autopsy can be conducted on the cadaver, that is now at the Alisbo Funeral Homes in Bacolod, Gever added.*SGG
