Closure of passageway
in Banago postponed

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The G, C & C Group of Companies granted the request of Bacolod Councilor Caesar Distrito to extend the closure of a passage in its property in Purok Makawiwili in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City, for another 30 days until a permanent solution can be found.

Distrito, chairperson of the Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Good Government of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, acted on the appeal of the residents of Purok Makawiwili, who made a special appearance during the regular session of the SP last week.

Distrito requested the owner of the property (G, C & C Group of Companies) for the extension to allow the residents to use the passage that is subject to closure.

He said the passage is very important for the residents particularly the students and employees who pass it everyday.

The residents said they were allowed to use the passage only until July 2. Distrito said he thinks 30 days will be enough for the city to find a concrete solution for the problem.

He said that, in a letter signed by Melquiades Centeno, Corporate Communication Officer the company granted the extension of 30 days for humanitarian reasons and also requested that the residents should be informed that this is just a temporary measure and they hope that the city will find a permanent solution to address the needs of the community.

The letter said the residents only have until August 2 to use the passage, after which, it will be permanently closed.*CGS
