The Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement Negros, in collaboration with Social Watch Philippines, will hold a local consultation on the High Level Panel Report on the Post-2015 Development Agenda today from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Chicken J Restaurant at B.S. Aquino Drive, Bacolod City, a press release from PRRM said.
The report, titled “A New Global Partnership: Eradicate Poverty and Transform Economies thru Sustainable Development,” was issued by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on May 30.
It was produced by a High Level Panel composed of 27 Eminent Persons jointly chaired by Indonesian President SusiloBambangYudhoyono, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron, the press release said.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will draw on the Report’s recommendations for his own report for the UN General Assembly deliberations in September.
Promising to be both bold and practical, the report lays out a universal agenda for ending extreme poverty by 2030 thru sustainable development, building on the Millennium Development Goals that ends by 2015, the press release said.
The Negros consultation is part of a national and international process involving more than 5,000 civil society groups from 121 countries throughout the globe, it also said.
PRRM-Negros Chapter Chair Isagani Fernandez will present the report to Bacolod and Negros-based civil society representatives and leaders of various sectors with PRRM-Negros Area Manager Edwin Balajadia will facilitating, it added.*
