Bacolod City Mayor-elect Monico Puentevella told members of the civil society during a meeting on Saturday that he plans to renovate the three public markets and will reactivate the vendor’s plaza, which he called a “white-elephant.”
Puentevella also told them he is getting additional policemen for Bacolod to stop the further spread of criminality, will offer possible alternative routes to decongest traffic and bared the possibility of converting the old Bacolod City domestic airport into either an entertainment or a business hub.
Nana Yulo, chairperson of the Negrenses for Nation Movement, sad they they presented to Puentebella 18 things they want to improve in Bacolod and that he told them that he is willing to help.
Among the things they want him to resolve are the traffic situation brought about by the vendors, trisikads plying the main streets and the undisciplined drivers especially of public utility vehicles.
They also asked him to resolve the problems of garbage, the cleanliness of the city’s public plaza, the growing number of squatters and the spate of crimes due to inefficiency of policemen.*APN
