2 nabbed for child abuse,
reckless imprudence raps
Two suspects wanted for charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and child abuse were arrested by the police in Bacolod City yesterday.
Arrested were Ryan Panuela of Purok Pedring, Brgy. Villamonte, and Jelyn Valebia, 23, of Purok Mabinuligay, Brgy. Bata, both in Bacolod, police records show.
Panuela was nabbed at about 10:30 a.m. at the Bacolod District Jail, Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod, on the strength of the warrant of arrest for the crime of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide, issued by Bacolod City Regional Trial Court Branch 43 Judge Philadelfa Agraviador, who set his bail at P10,000, the police said.
Valebia was arrested by the police at about 4:30 p.m. in Purok Mabinuligay, Brgy. Bata, for violation of Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, by virtue of the warrant of arrest, also issued by Agraviador, with bail bond set at P200,000.*SGG
Five men arrested
for illegal gambling
Five persons were arrested for engaging in the illegal numbers game, or jai alai, and card game, known as “monte” in Bacolod City Thursday.
Arrested were Jemar Boy, 53, of Suntal Village, Brgy. Taculing; Jeffrey Nadato, 35, and Ranie Nadato, 30, both of Pedrosa Subdivision, Brgy. Alijis; Romeo Imperial, 40, and Fedy Sayon, 18, both of Purok Kagaycay, Brgy. 2, all in Bacolod, police records show.
The regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, together with Station 6 policemen, nabbed Boy at about 7:30 p.m. at Espinos Village 2, Circumferential Road, Brgy. Taculing in Bacolod, for engaging in jai alai, the police said.
Four yellow pieces of pad paper used as tally sheets with number combinations, six tipsters with the codename “Bullet”, two black ballpens, a bundle of betting stubs with number combinations, a cellphone, and P1,079 in bet money, were recovered from Boy, police records show.
The Nadatos, who resisted arrest, were apprehended by Station 7 policemen at about 9:30 p.m., and a tipster with the codename “Bullet', a bundle of betting stubs, a ballpen, and P174 in bet money, were recovered from them.
Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Jovil Sedel, said Imperial and Sayon were nabbed at about 11 p.m. for playing “monte” at the pathway in Purok Kagaycay, Brgy. 2.
Sedel said some players of “monte” evaded arrest, but they recovered a set of playing cards and P70 in bet money.
Charges for illegal gambling will be filed against the suspects before the Bacolod City Prosecutor's Office, the police added.*SGG
injured in mishap
The driver of a motorcycle was injured when a tricycle hit him at about 7:25 a.m. yesterday, at Felisa Road, Brgy. Felisa in Bacolod City, traffic investigator, Police Officer 2 Richard Villan said.
Allan Odronia, 27, of Sayson Village, Brgy. Felisa, Bacolod, who was not wearing the required protective helmet, sustained injuries on his feet and was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, Villan said.
Investigation by Villan showed that the SRM motorcycle, with temporary plate number T-061207, driven by Odronia, was heading south of Felisa Road, when he was hit by a Kawasaki Wind 125 tricycle, with plate number FP9507, driven by Antonio Hilado, 47, of Purok Acacia, Brgy. Felisa, that was travelling on the opposite lane.
Villan said both Odronia and Hilado failed to present drivers' licenses so their vehicles, that were damaged, were impounded at the Traffic Management Unit in the Bacolod City Police Office compound.
Villan added that a settlement has already been reached between Odronia and Hilado.*SGG
