Man found dead in Sibulan

The death of a man who remained unidentified as of press time yesterday continues to puzzle the police in Sibulan town, Negros Oriental.

Insp. Rodrigo Tubog, Sibulan police chief, said they are still seeking leads on the body found in a shallow well Friday morning in Sitio Narra, Barangay Tubtubon, Sibulan.

Initial police investigation showed that Lorelie Calbog, of the sitio, was taking her child to school at around 9 a.m. Friday when she saw the feet and legs of a man sticking out from the well.

Tubog said police responded at around 9:45 a.m., and Scene of the Crime operatives were called in to process the crime scene.

The body was brought out of the well, and was found to have injuries in the throat, believed intentionally caused. It was clad only in underwear but no items of clothing were seen near the crime scene, Tubog added.

He described the victim to be in his mid30s, about 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches in height and of medium build and said he must have died sometime on Thursday night.

A postmortem examination was conducted by the municipal health officer, and the remains were transferred later to the Eterna Funeral Parlor in Sibulan.*JFP
