2 shot dead in Murcia, Silay

In just a matter of hours Monday night, a man was shot dead in Murcia and another in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

A man with tattoos on his body was killed in Brgy. Blumentritt, Murcia, while a former detainee was gunned down in Brgy. Mambulac, Silay, police records show.

The fatality in Murcia is believed to be the victim of summary execution. He is described to be 25 to 27 years old and 5 feet 2 inches tall, and had succumbed to five gunshot wounds in the head, lower jaw and left shoulder. His body was found yesterday at the PNOC road in Brgy. Blumentritt, Murcia.

Barangay residents claimed to have heard successive gunshots at about 8 p.m. Monday, police investigations showed.

Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, provincial police officer-in-charge, said Murcia policemen recovered five empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol at the scene of incident.

The victim was wearing black maong short pants and a brown shirt, and had tattoos on his right shoulder of “Rusmar Bandag”, and “Cuadro de Alas” in his armpit.

Lirazan said the identity of the victim has not been established yet. The cadaver is now at the Holy Angel Funeral Parlor in Bacolod City.

Two hours later, former detainee Floren Arevalo, “alias Bebe”, was gunned down by two suspects riding in tandem on a motorcycle in Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City, police said.

Arevalo, 25, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival at the Silay hospital.

Five empty cartridges of a 40 mm caliber pistol were recovered at the crime scene by Silay policemen, who responded to the incident at about 10:45 p.m. Monday.

The two shooting incidents are still being investigated by Murcia and Silay police probers.*GPB

Cops nab 3 for
theft, robbery

Three men wanted for theft and robbery charges were nabbed in Bacolod City Monday, the police said.

Johnny Lumangyaw Jr., 26, of Santa Lucia Subdivision, Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod, was arrested by Station 6 policemen while he was driving his motorcycle at about 7:30 a.m. in the area. He was nabbed on the strength of the warrant of arrest for theft, issued by Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch 3 Judge Napoleon Diamante, who set his bail at P10,000, police records show.

Station 8 policemen served the warrant of arrest for robbery charges to Rodito Rivera, “alias Aming”, 20, of Brgy. 12, Bacolod, at about 9:30 a.m. at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Brgy. Handumanan. The warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 41 Judge Ray Alan Drilon, who set his bail at P24,000.

Rivera had also been charged for frustrated robbery and frustrated homicide in 2012 when he and his companion, Rogen Antipura, then 16 years old, were tagged as suspects in the attempted robbery and stabbing of Natalia Realista at her house in Purok Calong-Calong, Zone 1, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod, on August 27, 2008, police records show.

The police also arrested Jonel Libre of Purok Kabulakan Uno, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, at the Bacolod City District Jail in Magsaysay Street, Brgy. Taculing, at about 2 p.m., by virtue of the warrant of arrest for theft charges issued by MTCC Branch 7 Judge Abraham Bayona, who set his bail at P10,000.

Libre and his companions, whose names were not disclosed, were nabbed in a follow-up pursuit by Station 8 cops last year for robbery hold-up charges, police records also show.*SGG
