DILG professionalizing
newly elected officials

The Department of Interior and Local Government is taking steps to professionalize local government officials by conducting a series of trainings for newly-elected ones, DILG provincial head Joy Maredith Madayag said yesterday.

She said the Local Government Academy will hold a seminar for the 10 newly elected mayors of Negros Occidental in July, either through the web or gather them in one place for the purpose.

The newly minted mayors will be oriented on their duties and responsibilities, she said.

The DILG provincial office will also design a training module for newly-elected board members and councilors, she said.

The three-hour training for the new board members of Negros Occidental will be held at the Capitol in Bacolod City on June 26, she added.

The training for the newly-elected councilors will be done in coordination with the Philippine Councilor’s League, Madayag said.*CPG
