City to purchase police vans

Six new L300 vans with communication radios will be purchased by the Bacolod City Police office this year and will be used as patrol cars, City Police Officer-in-charge Senior Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel, said yesterday.

Ordaniel said the patrol vehicles of Police Stations 3, 5, 7, 8 and 9 are already defective, which sometimes hamper their immediate response to crimes and need to be replaced.

BCPO will ask for the help of the Bacolod City government to purchase the vehicles.

Ordaniel, however, said that the lack of patrol cars should not be used by the policemen as reason for not responding to crime incidents because they should respond to them with or without vehicles by using their initiatives.

Ordaniel was reacting to the complaints of some residents that there are policemen who fail to respond to certain crime incidents due to lack of fuel and patrol vehicles.*APN
