Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. led the ground breaking Wednesday of the Suay-Buenavista Communal Irrigation Project in Himamaylan, Negros Occidental.
Worth P6,053,694.44, the project is aimed to benefit 130 farmers in the area, a press release from the Capitol said.
The irrigation initiative will be fully constructed in 210 days and will serve a total of 96 hectares of farmland, it added.
Marañon advised the farmers to make good use of the project and make it sustainable.
Also present at the groundbreaking were Fifth District Board Member Melvin Ibañez and Provincial Agriculturist Igmedio Tabianan, the press release said.*
