3 cops under
investigation

Three more policemen are being probed by the Bacolod City Police Investigation Branch for various offenses, BCPO officer-in-charge Senior Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel, said yesterday.

Ordaniel did not identify the policemen but said their ranks are below Senior Police Officers 4.

He said these policemen were the subject of complaints for irregularities in the performance of their duties.

Ordaniel said they may be suspended if the complaints against them are proven to be true.

On Wednesday, Ordaniel reported the dismissal of a policeman for grave misconduct, and the 60-day suspension of another for serious neglect of duty.

He said Police Officer 1 Bernardo Beneras of Police Station 2 has been dismissed for the escape of a theft suspect in December 2011, while Police Officer 2 Wilson Go of Police Station 5 was suspended for his failure to attend a court hearing as a witness.

Ordaniel reminded cops that the Philippine National Police is quick to recognize those who are performing well, and can also immediately impose penalties on those who are remiss in the performance of their duties.*APN

The number of arrested gun ban violators in Negros Occidental rose to 19 with the recent apprehension of three more suspects in the cities of Himamaylan and Kabankalan, police records show.

NOPPO trailed behind the city police offices of Bacolod and Iloilo in the number of arrested gun ban violators with 24 and 23, respectively, Iloilo Police Provincial Office 14, Capiz PPO 9, Aklan PPO 5, Antique 4 and Guimaras PPO 2.
