Foodman turns back Mang Inasal,
to take solo lead in TKP Class B

Foodman beat Mang Inasal, 83-75, to take the top spot in the team standings, while Appliance Centrum/LA Gasoline Station stopped Dynamic Metals, 97-94, in Class B of the 13th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Basketball Cup at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Prior to the match-up, Foodman and Mang Inasal share a 4-1 win-loss card at the top. With the setback, Mang Inasal slipped to No. 2 and shared the spot with ESJ Centre.

Peter Galon led Foodman with 22 points and Ralph Richard Tan finished with 17 as the duo combined for 17 points in the payoff quarter to stop Mang Inasal.

Early in the game, Inasal enjoyed a three-point lead at the half, 44-41, but Galon picked up 12 points in the third quarter to push Foodman ahead at 63-62 going to the fourth quarter.

Mang Inasal's offense sputtered at the wrong time as they can only score 13 points in the final chapter while Foodman scored 20 on the combined efforts of Galon and Tan.

Gustilo added 13 points for Foodman, Richard Tan scored 10 points, and Andre Tan had 7 points.

Shinley Uy paced Mang Inasal with 17 points, while Villanueva shot 14, and Binguan made 10 points.

Meanwhile, Centrum upset of Dynamic Metals revived their flickering quarterfinal hopes alive. Centrum is now tied with Dynamic Metals at 2-6, ahead of Fox SHox 1-5.

Centrum's 30-17 cushion in the fi1st quarter was enough to deliver the team to victory despite Dynamic Metals outscoring them in the next three quarters.

Rey Pandoro paced Centrum with 34 points, Peter Paul ORtaliz added 19, RJ Iligan picked up 18, Luigi Coo shot 14, and Pao Pao Lim with 9 points.

Franklyn Madrid and Julius Teruel shared scoring honors for Dynamic with 20 points each, Jeremy Coo added 17 points, 15 of them delivered in the second quarter, Joseph Tiu and Johnnyson Yu with 12 points each and Tan 10 points.

Quarterfinals clash in Class A starts today with No. 3 CSAB-B Choi Sportswear (5-2) going up against No. 6 UNO-R B (2-5) at 5 p.m., followed by the knockout game between No. 4 Willtrade-Sagay Central (4-3) against No. 5 Allure DM/Bobcat (3-4).*NAB
