Department of Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima will be in Bacolod City tomorrow to check on the performance of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Revenue Region 12-Bacolod, a source told the DAILY STAR yesterday.
The Bacolod City Police Office will also provide security on his arrival.
BIR official website reported that Purisima, with BIR Commissioner Kim Henares has been visiting various revenue region offices since February.
They had visited RR-16 Cagayan de Oro City, RR-5 Caloocan City, and RR-7 Quezon City.
In his visit to Cagayan de Oro City, Purisima appealed to revenuers to collect the correct amount of taxes to increase the tax effort ratio of the country by 16 percent of the gross domestic product.
He also asked the revenuers to focus on the monitoring of self employed taxpayers and collection of estate tax.
Recently, RR-12 Bacolod has launched its tax campaign with Deputy Commissioner Nelson Aspe of the BIR operations group and Assistant Commissioner Lucita Rodriguez of the BIR taxpayer assistance service. *LTG
