The cities of Sagay and Escalante shared top billings with four and three gold medals, respectively, during the 17th Sinigayan Invitational Amateur Boxing Tournament held recently at the Sagay City plaza.
JasonReb Magbanua led Sagay’s winning team with a win over Jay Paul Beguiras of Escalante in the 32 kgs., while Paul Telan prevailed over Rodgie Sta. Ana, also from Escalante in 42 kgs.
Arnold Jetajobe gifted Sagay its third gold in the competition as he turned back Ronnie Campos of Don Salvador Benedicto in 46 kgs., while Rafael Sueño won against Arman Alpar of Cadiz City in the 53 kgs. to complete Sagay’s gold medal haul.
Raising the Escalante City banner high were Anthony Requero, Greg Papleo, and Jojo Bulanon, who scored convincing victories over their opponents.
Requero bagged the gold against John Artajo in 30 kgs. while Papleo got back at the Sagay team by beating Marvin Jocsona in another match in the 30 kgs. division. Bulanon also beat pug from Sagay, Ricardo Sueño, in 40 kgs.
Also scoring resounding wins were Cadiz City’s Clifford Celis and Crissan Paul Diacamos. Celis beat Mike Duoma of Don Salvador Benedicto in 40 kgs., while Diacamos outclassed Don Salvador Benedicto Arnel Villacencio in 51 kgs. *NAB
