Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday assured the public that everything is being done to solve the robbery at F & C Pawnshop and Jewelry Store in Bacolod City Saturday, and that measures to prevent a recurrence are being put in place.
“I am telling Bacolod City police director, Senior Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel, and the police force not to allow this to happen again,” Leonardia said.
This should serve as a stern warning to all the police not to allow themselves to be embarrassed, he said.
These things can happen but, overall, the police is doing a good job and is working on the case, he added.
Leonardia said Ordaniel assured him that he is confident that the robbery will be solved.
The mayor said he was informed that former BCPO director, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, was also sent by the Police Regional Office 6 to Bacolod during the weekend because he is handling the Intelligence Division.
“Everything that happens to us must be considered alarming because we have set our standards high. But it does not mean we are out of control,” Leonardia said.
These things can happen any place, anywhere, Leonardia said. “But when you talk about peace and order in general, Bacolod is relatively peaceful,” he said.
Leonardia said he believes the police are conscious of the standard set for the city and they know that the expectations of the people are high.
Meanwhile, Leonardia appealed to the public not to create more confusion and instill fear in people because this will not help.
“Let us not blow this out of proportion. Let us also hear from those who are not political in nature,” he said, referring to his political detractors.*CGS
