PAL to buy 10 latest
Boeing aircraft model

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines is eying the purchase of 10 of the latest Boeing aircraft model and an option to buy 10 more of the still untested Boeing 777X should the latest version of the jetliner live up to its reputation, PAL president and chief operating officer said on yesterday.

PAL president and COO Ramon Ang said the planned purchase of 20 more Boeing aircraft is on top of similar purchases from rival manufacturer Airbus Industries where the airline has ordered four more A330 jets.

The set of four A330 aircraft is on top of a total 65 the Toulouse, France-based plane maker committed for delivery to the flag carrier.

Agri office all set
for Panaad 2013

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist will hold the 20 th Panaad sa Negros themed, Pasidungog sa Panguma, Pangisda kag Pangkasapatan April 8-14 at the Panaad Park and Stadium, Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Alona Abang, OPA agriculturist and program committee chair, yesterday said they will give nine awards to outstanding individuals and organizations vegetable farming, rice and corn farming, farmers association, and fish growers.

She said the awards to local farmers is for their contribution to the food security program of Negros Occidental and to acknowledge their efforts pursuing organic agriculture.

DA urges stakeholders
to promote ‘year of rice'

The Department of Agriculture in Western Visayas is urging local government units and agriculture information officers to intensity the campaign on the celebration of the National Year of Rice 2013.

This is intended to make the country sustainable in its rice production, Edna Garde, manager of the Farmers' Information Technology Center of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, said yesterday.

Garde said farmers, consumers, and lawmakers are encouraged to observe the NYR because they are the sectors to help meet the rice sufficiency level of the Philippines.
