Countdown starts
for 2013 marathon

The countdown for the 2013 Dumaguete Adventure Marathon on Nov. 17, 2013 was launched by the Foundation University and other sponsors at Robinsons Dumaguete Place recently, a press release from the school said.

DAM organizers pressed the giant ceremonial button to switch on the countdown timer displayed on two giant television screens onstage. The marathon, now on its fifth year, will advocate for rice conservation as 2013 has been declared the National Year of Rice by President Benigno Aquino III in Proclamation No. 494, signed on Oct. 18, 2012.

Aparicio Mequi, director of the University's Institute of Youth Sports for Peace, said one unique feature of the event is it being a finisher's marathon, with all runners to be awaited at the finish line no matter how long it takes.

The countdown launching was attended by Rep. Josy Sy-Limkaichong (Neg. Or., 1 st District), Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Fritzie Umbac Zanoria, Jocel Adorable of Sun Cellular, and other FU officials, the press release added.*
