Bacolod Comelec set for polls

The Commission on Elections in Bacolod City is all set for the May 13 automated national and local elections, acting Bacolod Comelec Registrar Salud Milagros Villanueva said yesterday.

Villanueva said about 41,000 Precinct Count Optical Scan machine technicians all over the country will simultaneously test the hotline number of the National Support System at 9 a.m. today, which will help trouble shoot any problem that may arise in the PCOS machines during the elections.

She said the official ballots that were delivered yesterday for the 311 clustered precincts have all been accounted for and these are being double-checked in the presence of the watchers of the candidates and political parties, including the representatives of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting.

Villanueva said the voting population of Bacolod is about 259, 302.

There are also 1,693 established precincts in Bacolod that have been clustered into 311 precincts, she said.

Meanwhile, Villanueva said the officials watchers and lawyers of the candidates and political parties, the PPCRV, and the tri-media will be allowed inside the canvassing area at the Sanggunaing Panlungsoid session hall of the Bacolod Cit Government Center.

They will also put up a projector inside the canvassing area and a wide screen outside the government center for those who wish to witness the canvassing process.*CGS
