Twenty-six exhibitors from Negros Occidental joined the soft opening of the 9th edition of the International Food Expo Philippines at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City yesterday.
About 800 exhibitors are participating in the expo this year that aims at promoting healthier food options through Green Asia, a showcase of healthy, natural, and organic food, Josephine Fernandez, Negros Occidental Agri-Business coordinator, said.
Fernandez said the food expo is being promoted by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, an export promotions agency of the Department of Trade and Industry, and will run until Sunday.
BFP to inspect
Members of the Bureau of Fire Protection will inspect boarding houses and dormitories in Bacolod City starting next week in preparation for the opening of classes, City Fire Marshall Chief Insp. Bartolome Beliran, said yesterday.
Beliran said they will begin the inspection even though there are no orders yet from the Regional BFP office so they could send notices earlier to those found with violations.
Beliran, former head of the BFP-6 operations branch, said the common violations they find during inspections of boarding houses and dormitories are the absence of fire exits and fire fighting apparatus, obstructed pathways and tampered electrical fuses.
