Incumbent Gov. Roel Degamo of PDP-Laban continues to lead the race for the top post in Negros Oriental with around 40,000 votes ahead of his rivals Josy Limkaichong, Gary Teves, and Samuel Torres as of the latest count by the Provincial Board of Canvassers yesterday.

Vice gubernatorial bet Mark Macias of Liberal Party, meanwhile, advanced by a slight margin over Henry Sojor and re-electionist Apolinario Arnaiz Jr.

Latest partial and unofficial results from the PBOC showed that Degamo garnered 122,515 votes, followed by Limkaichong of LP, 84,934; Teves of the Nationalist People’s Coalition, 84,558; and independent bet Torres with 654 votes.

New faces and upset victories were recorded in the elections in Negros Oriental.

Partial unofficial results from the town and city board of canvassers, as of yesterday, showed that mayoralty and vice mayoralty bets who are related to each other are leading the race in three towns and a city.

In Amlan, incumbent mayor Bentham dela Cruz was reelected, with his brother, Gino dela Cruz, as the vice mayor-elect.
