The 16th Dr. Pablo O. Torre, Sr. Memorial Golf Tournament tees off today at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City, a press release from organizers said.
The three-day tournament will feature golfers from all over the country who responded to the invitation to join the competition.
The tournament on the theme, “Play Golf. Share. Care”, aims to raise funds for the various programs of the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Foundation, Inc. on health, education and environment.
Beneficiaries of the event are the Bacolod Kadughan Foundation, St. Vincent’s Home for the Aged and St. John Marie Vianney Domus Dei - a hospice for sick and elderly priests in Silay City, the press release said.
“The support of our sponsors, donors and partners to this annual event will help us continue to reach more underprivileged Negrenses through our medical and surgical missions, scholarship programs and environmental initiatives,” Dr. Hector L. Torre, DPOTFI president and chairman said.
Aside from the give-aways, the lucky winners will bring home prizes and awards from pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical partners, the press release said.
“We are expecting around 300 golfers to join and play for a cause and this will also bring good business in Bacolod and the province of Negros Occidental,” Mark Torre, DPOTFI vice-president and tournament chairman, said in the press release.*
