Montelibano wins in Silay

Silay City Mayor Jose “Oti” Montelibano won the mayoralty race in Silay City by a margin of 914 votes and was proclaimed winner at 11:45 last night, City Election Officer Jose Meno Ruiz said.

Montelibano won with 29,411 votes against former mayor Carlo Gamban who had 28,497.

This is the third time he has defeated Gamban in the race for the mayorship. In 2010 Montelibano won by only 10 votes over Gamban.

Silay Vice Mayor Mark Golez won with 41,296 votes over his opponent July Ledesma who had 7,066 votes.

Also proclaimed were councilors Joedith Gallego, Ireneo Celis,Darryl Hinolan, Solomon Locsin, Renato Doloso, Mikol Velez, Jimmy Mayo, Uldarico Penuela, Edgar Maravilla and Ailen Javier. Hinolan,Velez and Javier did not attend the proclamation rites.

Meanwhile, here is a partial COMELEC list of the final results for the mayor and vice mayor races in various parts of Negros Occidental:

T0BOSO: Mayor – Richard Jaojoco – 9,671, Maria Luisa De la Cruz – 7,813; Vice Mayor - Evelio Valencia Jr. – 10,332, Edilberto Ayat – 6,624.

SAGAY CITY: Mayor – Alfredo Marañon III – 43,419, Romeo Apurado – 996; Vice Mayor – Narciso Javelosa – 39,269.

CADIZ CITY : Mayor – Patrick Escalante – 41,615, Manuel Garganera III – 7,647, Simeon Bacolado Jr. – 735; Vice Mayor – Samson Mirhan – 36,306, Agustin Jesmar Desuyo – 11,869.

MANAPLA: Mayor – Lourdes Socorro Escalante – 13,055, Edilberto Vocal Jr. – 8,978; Vice Mayor – Edgar Pagayonan – 14,475.

TALISAY CITY: Mayor – Eric Saratan – 29,616, Amelito Lizares – 14,394.
