Stingers to host Eagles in
NOPSSCEA semis

Enjoying a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals, the University of St. La Salle Stingers will be playing host to the Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod Eagles this afternoon, 4 p.m. at the St. La Salle Coliseum as the two squads square it off for the first ticket to the finals of this year NOPSSCEA men’s basketball championship.

Finishing No. 2 behind defending champion West Negros University Mustangs in the eliminations, the Stingers earned the privilege to host the first game in the semifinals against the Eagles, who finished at No. 3.

The semis match-up between the Mustangs and last year’s runner-up University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos Rams, originally scheduled over the weekend, was rescheduled for tomorrow due to some technical problems.

Bacolod Rotarians top
nat’l sportsfest

The Rotary Club of Metro Bacolod, headed by Joel Jaranilla, topped the 23rd National Metro Club Rotary Sportsfest, recently hosted by the Rotary club of Metro Iloilo, a press release from the group said.

Rotary Club of Metro Bacolod won the team championship in golf, basketball, 4x50 swimming relay, badminton mixed doubles, table tennis, dance sports, and Class B golf to earn the overall championship.

The group also earned a finished first runner-up in 50m swimming, and second runner-up honors in golf Class A, 100m swimming, badminton doubles, and poker, the press release said.*

Bacolod, NegOcc  to sign
Batang Pinoy MOA today

A Memorandum of Agreement will be signed today for the staging of Batang Pinoy 2013 National Championships on November 19 to 23 in Bacolod City this month by the local government of Bacolod City, Province of Negros Occidental, the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee.

Expected to attend the MOA signing are Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., Mayor Monico Puentevella, PSC chairman Ricardo Garcia, and POC president Jose Cojuangco Jr.

Bacolod City and Negros Occidental will co-host the competition due to the recent peace and order problem in Zamboanga City, the original venue of the national competition.
