Love Negros may field
candidate, Lacson says

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

With the assumption of office of newly-elected barangay leaders on November 30, the Love Negros Team is contemplating the fielding of a candidate for the position of Liga ng mga Barangay head in the provincial level.

“If we feel we have the numbers, why not? “ Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, a member of the Love Negros Team, said yesterday.

“But as of this time, we have no candidate yet,” Lacson said.

He, however, said they will have to wait until the local government units have chosen their own Association of Barangay Captains representative in the municipal or city level. “Then, we will know if we will have a candidate or not,” Lacson added.

George Gitano, a barangay captain in Pontevedra, represents the ABC at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. He is an ally of the Love Negros Team at the SP.

Gitano was defeated by reelectionist Mayor Jose Ma. Alonso for the Pontevedra mayoralty post during the May 13 elections.

There are 601 barangays in Negros Occidental.*GPB
