San Beda guns for 4-peat today

The San Beda Red Lions and the Letran Knights will come into the second game today with different mindsets, the former wants to cement their legacy by winning their fourth straight title while the latter looks to live another day in the NCAA Season 89 men’s senior basketball finals at the Mall Of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Red Lions took Game One after launching a fourth quarter comeback that sealed their 80-68 victory over the Knights.

Baser Amer and Anthony Semerad lifted San Beda lifted after nailing some crucial treys but back-up guard Ludovice was the biggest revelation in that game after scoring 11 points in eight minutes.

San Beda's head coach, former NOPSSCEA standout and PBA player and head coach Boyet Fernandez, gave credit to the defense of his players and stressed their readiness against the Knights in today’s game two.

"It's probably credit to the defense of the players, we came in the fourth quarter down by six. I told the guys to just stay with the system and to stay with the defensive mentality,” Fernandez said.

On the other hand, MVP Raymond Almazan finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort for Letran in game one.

Meanwhile, Letran's coah Caloy Garcia  saidthat they are not ready to raise the white flag.

"We collapsed in the fourth quarter but we still believe that we can bounce back in Game two," he said. *PNA
