Dog run tomorrow
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

A dog marathon will be held 5:30 a.m. tomorrow from the Kiwanis stage of Quezon Park in Dumaguete in line with the 65th charter anniversary of the City.

City veterinarian Lourdes Socorro said Fiesta Committee decided to start the dog run to make this year’s celebration more interesting.

She said the dogs will compete in the 1.5-kilometer, 3K and 5K run to test their strength and endurance. The animals must be vaccinated and must stay on leash with their owners or handlers running with them.

The first three finishers will get the gold, silver and bronze medals, respectively, plus trophies, and accessories like dog shampoos, loot bag, food and vitamins. The handler or owner of the dog declared champion will receive P1,500. Non-winning entries will receive loot bags.

There will be a registration fee of P200 for each participant.

Socorro said that from 1-5 p.m. tomorrow, the City Veterinarian will conduct a free clinic at the Quezon Park, and offer services like free castration and deworming and also give vitamins for cats and dogs.*JG
